Training on common data collection template for tea gardens held in Sylhet

A day long training on common data collection template for tea gardens in Sylhet division held on Tuesday (September 1) at a conference hall of a hotel in Sylhet city.

The training under UN Joint SDG Programme was organized by the Health Department in Sylhet with technical support of UNFPA Bangladesh and the CIPRB.

25 participants, including garden midwives, compounders and clerks of 8 selected tea gardens of Sylhet, Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts, were trained on common data collection template.

During the inaugural session chaired by Sylhet Civil Surgeon Dr. Premanondo Mondol, Md. Mahbub-E- Alam, chief a.i PPR of UNFPA delivered the welcome remarks and shared the objectives of the training.

He said that the objectives of the training were learning about how to collect and record tea garden data following the common template, information on how to data to be storage, analysed and reported as well and developing an action plan framework for rolling out the harmonized template.

Mahbub also mentioned about the process of developing the common data collection template.

In the training, Md Mashiur Rahman, information management officer of UNFPA presented the overall progress on enhancing data strengthening of tea garden workers.

He also mentioned about two separate workshops about this issue were held earlier in Moulvibazar and Sylhet districts led by respective Civil Surgeon Offices in collaboration with CIPRB.

Dr. Animesh Biswas, Technical Officer of UNFPA introduced the common data collection template and discussed four common data collection templates including the garden census, pregnancy and birth register, maternal benefit register and sick allowance register.

A group discussion session on the data collection and reporting template and developing an action plan framework was also held with the effective participation of all trainees. After group work, they presented action plan for their respective teagardens.

In the training, Field Officer of UNFPA in Sylhet, the Team Leader, Project Coordinator, District Referral Coordinators, and Field Coordinators of CIPRB participated.
