821 Farmers Receive Farmer Cards in Juri

The formal inauguration of the farmer card distribution program was held on Tuesday (14 April) afternoon in 11 upazilas across the country’s eight divisions, launched by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. In Sylhet Division, Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar District has been selected as the only area included in this pilot project, specifically Fultala Union.

On Tuesday afternoon in Juri, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labour and Employment, formally inaugurated the distribution of farmer cards among 821 farmers as the chief guest.

Although 821 farmers were listed under the Fultala block of Juri Upazila, two of them could not open their accounts as they were hospitalized due to illness. Among the listed beneficiaries, 650 are male farmers and 171 are female farmers.

The farmer card distribution event was held at the field of Fultala Bashir Ullah High School, with Touhiduzzaman Pavel, Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar, presiding over the meeting. The welcome address was delivered by Md. Jalal Uddin, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Moulvibazar.

Special guests at the event included Members of Parliament Nasir Uddin Ahmed Mithu (Moulvibazar-1: Barlekha and Juri), Shawkatul Islam (Moulvibazar-2), and Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury (Moulvibazar-4). Also present were Khan Md. Reza‑un‑Nabi, Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet; Md. Mushfiqur Rahman, DIG of Sylhet,Mohammad Billal Hossain, Superintendent of Police of Moulvibazar; Mizanur Rahman, Administrator of the District Council, Faizul Karim Moyun, Convener of District BNP; Mushfikin Noor, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Juri, Sabrina Akter, Assistant Commissioner (Land); Masum Reza, President of Upazila BNP and Chairman of Jaifarnagar Union Parishad; Matiur Rahman Chunu, General Secretary of Upazila BNP; Abdul Kaiyum, Senior Vice-President and Union Parishad Chairman; and Abdul Alim Selu, Chairman of Fultala Union Parishad, among others.
