Youth empowerment, leadership development discussed at Dhaka seminar

Prominent academics, a parliamentarian, corporate professional, writer and youth advocates gathered in Dhaka on Tuesday to discuss ways to empower young people and foster responsible leadership among the next generation.

The seminar, titled From Roots to the Summit: Youth Empowerment and Leadership Development, was held at the Bongomata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall at the Parliament at 6:00pm on August 18.

The National Youth Forum of Bangladesh organised the event as part of its efforts to promote youth development, leadership and greater social engagement among young people.

Prof Md Selim Bhuiyan MP attended the seminar as the chief guest. Dr Golam Rabbani Nayan Bangali, professor at the Washington University of Science and Technology, was the special speaker.

Engineer Md Sadekul Islam Bhuiyan, director (Projects) of Suntech Energy Ltd, attended as a special guest.

Writer and filmmaker Sadat Hossain joined the discussion, while Nishat Sultan, director of PRAN International Bangladesh, also took part in the session.

The seminar was chaired by Prof Dr Aleya Begum, provost of the Bongomata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall.

The speakers stressed the importance of equipping young people with skills, confidence, creativity and leadership qualities while keeping them connected to their roots and values.
