SRB Steps Up Intelligence Surveillance Across Moulvibazar Ahead of Durga Puja

The Special Response Battalion (SRB) has intensified security measures and intelligence surveillance across Moulvibazar district ahead of Sharadiya Durga Puja to ensure peaceful and uninterrupted celebrations.

SRB personnel from the Sreemangal camp are conducting regular patrols and monitoring security at puja mandaps, in urban and rural neighbourhoods, and across remote tea garden communities.

On Friday, October 16, SRB members visited several puja mandaps and surrounding areas in Sreemangal, Kamalganj, Rajnagar, Bhanugach and Moulvibazar Sadar to assess security arrangements and the overall law and order situation. They also held discussions with members of puja celebration committees about security concerns and the safety of devotees and visitors.

As part of the ongoing operation, an SRB team visited the Durga Puja mandap at Madhabpur Tea Garden in Kamalganj on Friday. Led by camp commander ASP Arifur Rahman and party in-charge DAD Howlader Md Rafiqul Islam, the team inspected the venue and exchanged views with members of the local puja committee.

According to SRB sources, surveillance has been extended to puja mandaps and surrounding communities throughout the district. Alongside regular patrols, the force is collecting information at the field level and coordinating security activities with other law enforcement agencies.

SI Debabrata, speaking to Sylhet Today, said the SRB's Sreemangal camp was monitoring security arrangements at more than 1,000 puja mandaps across Moulvibazar district.

He said SRB personnel, alongside members of police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Ansar, were conducting regular patrols to maintain law and order at the puja venues. Security operations were also being carried out according to a planned programme, he added.

Debabrata said their monitoring had so far revealed no deterioration in the overall security situation. The situation at temples and puja mandaps remained satisfactory, he said.

Durga Puja preparations are also progressing amid festive enthusiasm at several tea gardens in the district. In Kamalganj, celebrations are being organised at Kurma, Champa Raya, Dhalai, Baghachhara and Nurjahan tea gardens. In Sreemangal, puja preparations are underway at Bhanurua, Bhurbhuria, Ramnagar, Tikaria, Fulchhara, Kalighat, Deanston, Sindurkhan and Rajghat tea gardens.

From urban centres and rural neighbourhoods to remote tea garden communities, security personnel are continuing their monitoring and patrols to help ensure that devotees and visitors can take part in the religious festivities without disruption.

The coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies, alongside ongoing intelligence surveillance, are aimed at maintaining a peaceful atmosphere throughout the Durga Puja celebrations.
