Farmers’ Meet Generates Demand for Lal Teer’s Hybrid Rice Seeds in Habiganj

A farmers' meeting organised by Lal Teer Seed Limited Co in Bahubal upazila has generated demand for the company's hybrid rice seeds ahead of the upcoming Boro season, with farmers expressing interest in around 200kg of coarse- and fine-grain varieties.

The demand emerged following a promotional and interactive meeting held on Sunday afternoon at the residence of Birendra Das in Hosenpur village under Snaanghat Union.

The two varieties drawing particular interest were TP Super-60, a coarse-grain hybrid rice variety, and LT-02, a fine-grain variety. Farmers also discussed other varieties, including TP Super and Sabuj Sathi.

Presided over by Bijoy Krishna Das, the meeting was attended by Tapas Chakraborty, divisional manager of Lal Teer Seed Limited, as the chief guest. Snaanghat Union Parishad Chairman Md Toffazzal Haque Rahim and agriculturalist Golam Azam, regional manager of the company, were present as special guests.

More than a hundred farmers, including women farmers, participated in the meeting.

During the discussion, company representatives highlighted the characteristics of the hybrid varieties, seed quality, suitability to local soil and climatic conditions, expected yield potential and measures for managing crop diseases.

Tapas Chakraborty said Lal Teer was committed to ensuring quality seed supplies for farmers during the Boro season. The company would also provide necessary guidance at different stages of cultivation, from selecting seeds and transplanting seedlings to crop care and harvesting, he said.

Golam Azam emphasised that selecting suitable and quality seeds was crucial to achieving better agricultural production. He also highlighted the importance of proper cultivation techniques and timely crop management.

Following the meeting, farmers' collective demand for different coarse- and fine-grain rice seeds was estimated at around 200kg. The response indicated growing interest in Lal Teer's TP Super-60 and LT-02 varieties among local farmers.
