Brazil has announced a 23-man squad for the Copa America set to start on June 20 in the United States.
Before the start of the tournament, the South American team will play friendly matches against Mexico and the United States in June.
From this squad announced for the Copa America, Brazil will play the friendly match.
Porto's 24-year-old striker Evanilson is the only new face in this squad.
Manchester United's defensive midfielder Casemiro and Tottenham Hotspur's striker Richarlison have been left out of this squad.
Regarding the exclusion of 32-year-old Casemiro, Brazil coach Daríbal Juninho said at a press conference, "I had talked to him three months ago at Manchester. I explained to him what my thoughts were about him and the team."
Neymar has not been able to secure a place in this squad for the Copa America as expected. Brazil forward is still not fully recovered from injury. This fact of Neymar not being able to play in the Copa America was confirmed by Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar last December.
Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus also did not make it to Daríbal's Copa America squad. Daríbal has informed that Richarlison will not be replaced due to injury suffered while playing for the club.
Three players have been called up from Brazil's domestic football to this squad—goalkeeper Bento, full-back Guilherme Arana, and striker Antony. It has been confirmed that 17-year-old Antony will join Real Madrid. Once he turns 18 this year, Antony will join Real in July.
In the last Copa America final in 2021, Brazil lost 1-0 to Argentina. The defending champions of the five-time World Cup winner won the last Copa America in 2019.
