Online primary teacher transfer application starts from today

The online transfer process of head teachers and assistant teachers of government primary schools to their respective upazila or police station will start today (30 March). This will continue till 17th April.

The information has been obtained from the signed office order by Assistant Director of the Primary Education Department, Mr. Touhidul Islam.

This states that from March 30 to April 1, teachers will apply for transfers online. On April 2, headteachers will verify the applications. Assistant Upazila/Thana Education Officers will complete the verification of applications by April 3 and 4. From April 5 to 7, Upazila/Thana Education Officers will finalize the verification and proceed with further actions.

Furthermore, from April 8 to 14, District Primary Education Officers will verify and approve the applications of Assistant Teachers and complete the verification and processing of Headteachers' applications. From April 15 to 17, Divisional Deputy Directors will verify and approve the applications.

The Education Department has specified several conditions regarding teachers' transfers. It has been stated that teachers will choose up to a maximum of three preferred schools in order of priority. However, if any teacher does not have multiple preferences, they can choose one or two schools. Once the transfer order is issued, no further applications will be accepted to cancel it.

Furthermore, the department has clarified that there is no certainty regarding transfers based on the preferences of the applicants. Selection among multiple applicants will be done through software, eliminating any possibility of intervention.

The online application process for the transfer of assistant teachers in government primary schools across the country started on September 15, 2022. Until then, there were allegations of commercialization and irregularities in manual transfer processes. Earlier, on June 30 of that year, Liberation War Affairs Minister A.K.M. Mozammel Haque inaugurated the pilot project of online transfer activities in Kaliakair, Gazipur.

According to the latest annual report of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, there are currently 65,566 government primary schools in the country. These schools have a total of 103,484,617 students and 359,095 teachers.
