Microsoft's organization, 'Windows and Surface,' has appointed Indian engineer Pavan Davuluri as its new head.

Before Pavan, the position was held by Panos Panay. However, after working at Microsoft for 19 years, he left the organization in 2023 to join Amazon.

After Panos' departure, Pavan and Mikhail Parakhin shared responsibilities. Mikhail became the CEO of Microsoft's web and advertising division, while also taking charge of Windows. He demonstrated multiple Microsoft products like Bing, Edge, and Caplet.

On the other hand, Pavan was assigned the responsibility of showcasing 'Surface.' This time, Microsoft formally appointed him to the top positions of Windows and Surface.

Pavan is an IIT graduate, having completed his bachelor's degree from IIT Madras.

Rajesh Jha, another division head at Microsoft, said, "Pavan is now leading a new team and will provide us with all the information. Shilpa Ranganathan, Jeff Johnson, and their team will work directly under Pavan's leadership. The Windows team will work with Microsoft's artificial intelligence team."

He further stated, "We have started working together. In this era of artificial intelligence, we need to adopt a comprehensive approach in the field of system and device manufacturing to provide better services to people."

Who is this Pavan? There has been curiosity about him since he assumed new responsibilities at Microsoft. According to his LinkedIn account, he earned his bachelor's degree from IIT Madras and obtained a master's degree from the University of Maryland. He started his career at Microsoft as a 'Reliability Component Manager' in 2001. During his 23-year career at Microsoft, Pavan has held various positions, working on PC, Xbox hardware, Surface, and Windows. In 2021, Pavan became the Corporate Vice President of Windows and 'Silicon and Systems Integration.'

Besides leading Microsoft hardware, Pavan has also led Windows engineering. He will lead a dedicated team for Microsoft's Windows and Surface national products.
