In a three-sided battle, the match evolved into a crucial encounter where attacks and counterattacks unfolded throughout the entire duration. Although significant opportunities were seen, none could break the deadlock. As a result, satisfaction had to be derived from sharing points for both Arsenal and Manchester City.

With this goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday night, Liverpool is set to end the week atop the league table. Prior to this match, defeating Brighton 2-1 pushed them to the summit under Jurgen Klopp's leadership.

Liverpool now has 67 points from 29 matches. Arsenal trails with two points less at 65 points, securing the second spot. Manchester City sits at third with 64 points.

City dominated possession with over 70% of the ball time at home. However, their attacking display was quite lackluster; despite taking 12 shots, they could only keep one on target. Conversely, Arsenal managed to convert two of their six shots into goals.

The intensity of the match was evident from the seventh minute itself. The first significant opportunity fell to Arsenal when Gabriel Jesus's shot from 10 yards out narrowly missed the target.

The outcome of this match could prove to be extremely crucial in the title race. Therefore, both teams continuously strived to assert dominance from the beginning on the field. Referees blew the whistle for fouls eight times in the first 30 minutes, with six of them against Arsenal.

Although City exerted continuous pressure, they could only create one clear opportunity in the first half. A chance from Nathan Ake's header in the fifteenth minute was easily handled by Arsenal's goalkeeper.

Dutch defender Ake couldn't continue on the field due to an injury; he was substituted by Rico Lewis in the 27th minute.

Another great opportunity was missed by Jesus in the 31st minute. The Brazilian forward's shot hit the post, increasing frustration for Arsenal.

The first two minutes of the second half saw City launch two significant attacks. However, both attempts went wide, much to Arsenal's relief.

Despite continuous attacking efforts and counterattacks in the next 30 minutes, neither side managed to create any noteworthy opportunities. In the 83rd minute, a corner for City saw Erling Haaland's header at the far post, but it went wide.

The remaining time elapsed similarly, with both goalkeepers not facing any significant challenges.

Arsenal committed a total of 20 fouls throughout the match, while City committed 9.

This draw marks City's second consecutive draw in the league. Liverpool had previously drawn 1-1 against them at Anfield before the international football break.

For Arsenal, this was their first time dropping points after eight straight wins in the league.
