Mominul joins the 4,000-run club

Mominul Haque has been named in the 4,000-run club as the fourth batsman for the country in Test cricket.

Before the second and final Test of the series against Sri Lanka at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Mominul had scored 3,975 runs in 112 innings. He was just 25 runs away from reaching the 4,000-run milestone.

In the first innings of the Test, Mominul scored 33 runs with three fours, reaching the 4,000-run club in his Test career during this innings.

Before Mominul, Mushfiqur Rahim (5,676), Tamim Iqbal (5,134), and Shakib Al Hasan (4,469) have written their names in Bangladesh's 4,000-run club.

Moreover, on Monday, Mominul completed 1,000 runs as the third batsman for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in Tests. Before him, Mushfiqur Rahim (1,346 runs in 17 Tests) and Mohammad Ashraful (1,090 runs in 13 Tests) achieved this milestone.

Mominul made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in Galle in March 2013. So far, he has scored 4,008 (as on 1 April, 224) runs in 61 Tests, with an average of 38.53, including 12 centuries and 17 half-centuries.

In Tests, Mominul holds the record for the highest century for Bangladesh.
