The 5 Bangladeshis who climbed Mount Everest

Babar Ali has conquered Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, as the fifth Bangladeshi. On Sunday (May 19, 2024), at 8:30 AM Bangladesh time, he reached the summit of Everest.

This information was confirmed by the coordinator of the expedition, Farhan Zaman.

Before Babar Ali, four Bangladeshis had set foot on the summit of Mount Everest. They are Musa Ibrahim, M.A. Mohit, Nishat Majumdar, and Wasfia Nazreen.

On May 23, 2010, at 5:05 AM Bangladesh time, Musa Ibrahim became the first Bangladeshi to conquer the Everest summit.

On May 19, 2012, at 11:30 AM, Nishat Majumdar became the first Bangladeshi woman to climb the world's highest peak, Mount Everest. On the same day, M.A. Mohit also climbed to the summit of Everest for the second time. Wasfia Nazreen completed her successful expedition on the morning of May 26.

In 2013, Sajal Khaled, who ascended Everest, died on the way back.

Musa Ibrahim was born in 1979 in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila, Mogalhat Union. He studied at Thakurgaon Chinikol High School, Thakurgaon, Notre Dame College, Dhaka, and the University of Dhaka. He is the Secretary-General of the North Alpine Club Bangladesh, a mountaineering club, and a freelance journalist. Prior to this, he worked as a senior correspondent for a Bangladeshi private television channel and as an assistant editor for the English daily The Daily Star. In 2011, he established the Everest Academy to increase the participation of young people in mountaineering and adventure activities.

M.A. Mohit was born on January 4, 1970, in Gangapur, Borhanuddin Upazila, Bhola. He passed SSC from Puran Dhaka Pogos School, HSC from Notre Dame College, and completed his B.Com. (1989) from Dhaka City College.

Nishat Majumdar was born in 1981 in Lakshmipur. She completed her SSC in 1997 from Botmuli Home Girls' High School, Farmgate, Dhaka, HSC in 1999 from Shaheed Anwar Girls' College, and graduated in accounting from Dhaka City College. Nishat Majumdar works as a chief accountant in Dhaka.

Wasfia Nazreen was born on October 27, 1982, in Dhaka. She studied at Scholastica School and then completed A-levels. She then went to Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, USA, where she majored in social psychology and studio art. She also studied for a while in Scotland. During her student life, she was known as an activist against war and for various global issues. She also worked as a development worker.

33 year old Babar Ali passed MBBS from Chattogram Medical College. career in medicine. After that, he left his job and focused on traveling abroad.
