Ratha Yatra, the chariot festival of Sri Jagannath Dev of the Hindu community, ended celebration. of Ulto Ratha Yatra (reverse journey) in Habiganj on Saturday amid religious fervour and enthusiasm.
Marking the occasion, different rituals were observed at various temples in the district.Thousands of men and women took part in a huge procession at the Shri Shri Sachimata Smriti Tirtha AnandaDham in the Baragaon area of Bahubali upazila of Habiganj. Two chariots, including elephants and horses,circumambulated the main road from the Sachimata Smriti Tirtha Ananda Dham to the Kamaichhara tea garden area.
The police personnel were seen cooperating with the administration and devotees of the shrine to ensure security and maintain traffic management.
Addressing the devotees, Shri Sarveshwar Govinda Das Brahmachari, the principal of Shri Shri Sachimata Smrittirtha Dham in Baragaon village of Bahubali upazila of Habiganjdistrict, said, "Jagannath Dev is the Nath or Adhiswar of the world. The world is the world and Nath is God. Therefore, Jagannath is the God of the world. He appears as a form of God, the form of Shri Krishna resides in Puridham forever, even if someone is a hundred criminals, even a sinner, if he remembers Jagannath Dev, he receives blessings from God."To mention, the Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath Dev, one of the major festivals of the Hindu community, is also called Gundicha Yatra, Dasavatara and Navadina Yatra.
Every year the Yatra is observed in the month of Ashar and the reverse Rath Yatra will be held after eight days.
