Khaleda Zia Essential to Protect Bangladesh’s Sovereignty: Dr. Enamul

Dr. Enamul Haque Chowdhury, a key advisor to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and a member of the International Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee, has stated that Begum Khaleda Zia is essential to safeguarding Bangladesh’s sovereignty.

He made these remarks as the chief guest during an exchange of views with leaders and activists of the Beaniibazar Upazila and Poura BNP and its affiliated organizations at a community center in Beaniibazar on Sunday (July 6) afternoon.

Dr. Enamul said, “I have been engaged in politics at great personal risk. The previous fascist government did not allow us to stay in our homes, but we never backed down because we had the support of our families. With my mother’s blessings, I participated in all party activities during the previous regime. I left my job and business to dedicate myself to politics. In the dead of night, DB (Detective Branch) vehicles came to my house and took us away. My home was attacked, and even attempts were made to kill our senior leaders.”

Speaking about the missing former MP of Sylhet-2 and BNP’s former National Executive Committee Organizing Secretary M. Ilias Ali, and the missing Sylhet District Chhatra Dal Assistant General Secretary Iftikhar Ahmed Dinar, he said, “To this day, we have no trace of them. Their families and we do not know where they are or how they are. Even after so many years of their disappearance, their families have received no clear answers. To get those answers, we must unite and work to ensure the victory of the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ in the upcoming election.”

Addressing BNP leaders and activists, he said, “If we only make demands without working for them, those demands will remain unfilled. To realize them, we must all work together. The first step is to motivate the women in our households to support the ‘Sheaf of Paddy.’”

Reiterating the need for Khaleda Zia to protect Bangladesh’s sovereignty, he said, “Today, Begum Khaleda Zia is the national guardian. She was imprisoned in a false case for the sake of the country. The 2 crore taka in the bank account at that time has now grown to 11 crore taka. This money was donated by the Kuwait government for the Ziaur Rahman Foundation. I am a witness to this, as I personally collected the documents from the Amir of Kuwait. But the then fascist Awami League government jailed her in a fabricated case.”

The exchange of views was chaired by Beaniibazar Upazila BNP Vice-President Abdul Sobur and conducted by former Publicity and Office Secretary Kamal Hossain. The main speaker was Sylhet District BNP Organizing Secretary Shamim Ahmad.

Special guests included Sylhet District BNP Advisor Golam Kibria Chowdhury Shahin, former Sylhet Metropolitan BNP Vice-President Abdul Fattah, Sylhet District BNP Industry Affairs Secretary Siddique Ahmad, Local Government Affairs Secretary Abu Naser Pintu, former Beaniibazar Upazila BNP Vice-President Ali Hasan, Golapganj Pourasava BNP Organizing Secretary Dulal Ahmad, and BNP leaders Kamruzzaman, Kamil Ahmad, Liakat Ali, Selim Ahmad, and Mashikur Rahman.
