The interim government has sent 18 judges of the Bangladesh Judicial Service on compulsory retirement.
The list includes Md. Monir Kamal, Judge of the Sylhet Cyber Tribunal, and Fazle Elahi Bhuiyan, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3 in Habiganj.
On Thursday (July 10), the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification regarding their retirement.
The notification, signed by Md. Azizul Haque, Deputy Secretary of the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry, stated, "As the following members of the Bangladesh Judicial Service have completed 25 years of service, they are being retired from service in the public interest under the provisions of Section 45 of the Government Servants Act, 2018, in consultation with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh."
The judges are: Bikas Kumar Saha, Officer (District and Sessions Judge) attached to the Law and Justice Division in Dhaka; Sheikh Mofizur Rahman, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Rajbari; Md. Mahbubur Rahman Sarker, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 in Kishoreganj; Sheikh Golam Mahbub, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Kushtia; Md. Mazibur Rahman, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 in Gaibandha; Md. Ehsanul Haque, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Bhola; and Md. Jewel Rana, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Public Safety Disruption Offenses Tribunal in Khulna.
The list also includes Sahidul Islam, Special Judge (District and Sessions Judge) in Patuakhali; Al Mahmud Fayzul Kabir, Special Judge (District and Sessions Judge) in Dinajpur; Md. Nazimuddoula, District and Sessions Judge in Tangail; A K M Mozammel Haque Chowdhury, Judge (District and Sessions Judge) of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Thakurgaon; Abu Zafar Md. Kamruzzaman, Officer (District and Sessions Judge) attached to the Law and Justice Division in Dhaka; Md. Rustam Ali, Member (District and Sessions Judge) of the Administrative Tribunal in Barishal; Md. Nurul Islam, Officer (Additional District and Sessions Judge) attached to the Law and Justice Division in Dhaka; A K M Enamul Karim, Additional District and Sessions Judge in Patuakhali; and Mohammad Hossain, Officer (Joint District and Sessions Judge) attached to the Law and Justice Division in Dhaka.
The notification stated that these judges will receive retirement benefits as per the rules. This order will take effect immediately.
