US Deports 39 Bangladeshis for Illegal Stay

The United States has deported 39 Bangladeshi nationals accused of residing in the country illegally.

On Saturday (August 2), they arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka aboard a US military C-17 aircraft. The Immigration Police have confirmed this information.

Following the start of the second term of the current US President Donald Trump’s administration, the US intensified its efforts to deport illegal immigrants back to their home countries. As part of this ongoing process, the US began deporting Bangladeshi illegal immigrants. So far, more than 100 Bangladeshis have been repatriated in multiple phases. In this latest phase, an additional 61 Bangladeshis are being deported.

A source in Washington revealed that some of the deported Bangladeshis face issues with citizenship verification and documentation, causing delays and challenges in their repatriation process. While some individuals in previous phases returned on commercial flights, all those being deported in this phase are arriving on a US military transport aircraft.

With the cooperation of the Bangladeshi government, the identities and citizenship of the detained individuals are being verified before their deportation. Those with valid passports are being repatriated quickly. For those with expired passports, the Bangladesh Mission issues a one-way Travel Permit (TP). For individuals without any identification documents, their citizenship is verified through the Ministry of Home Affairs, after which a TP is issued.
