The series against India is not happening anytime soon, leaving Bangladesh’s schedule open. As a result, Bangladesh is set to play a T20I series in August, with the Netherlands as the opponent. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is likely to choose Sylhet as the venue.

Bangladesh will participate in the Asia Cup in the first week of September, and this series is primarily part of their preparations.

BCB’s Head of Cricket Operations, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, hinted that the series is likely to be held in Sylhet. He said, “We’ll play the series where we get the best wicket. The chances of hosting it in Dhaka are low; it will be outside Dhaka. Sylhet is a strong possibility. In recent times, Sylhet has earned a good reputation for its wickets and grounds. For the kind of wicket we want before the Asia Cup, only Sylhet can meet that demand.”

The three-match T20I series against the Netherlands could take place in the third week of August. However, Fahim refrained from confirming the schedule as the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two boards is yet to be finalized.

In preparation for the Asia Cup, Bangladesh’s conditioning camp will begin on August 6. A fitness test for the cricketers is scheduled for August 10, on which head coach Phil Simmons will also join the team.
