At least one person was killed and 31 others injured in separate road accidents in Tangail, Jhenaidah and Munshiganj amid dense fog on Saturday.
In Tangail’s Ghatial upazila, a head-on collision between two passenger buses on the Tangail–Jamalpur regional highway left 22 people injured. Several of them were shifted to Tangail General Hospital and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Fire service officials cited poor visibility and risky overtaking as possible causes.
In Jhenaidah, a tea vendor, Ibrahim Hossain (70), was killed after a private car lost control and rammed into a tea stall at Shishutola Bazar in Maheshpur. Three others sustained serious injuries. Police said a tyre burst caused the crash.
Meanwhile, in Munshiganj, at least six people, including a woman, were injured when a bus hit the rear of a truck on the Dhaka–Mawa Expressway in Srinagar during heavy fog. The injured were taken to hospital, with some later referred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Police said legal action was underway in all incidents
