The 24th Sankirtan Pilgrimage Traverses Sylhet Division to Celebrate Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Birth Anniversary Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sunamganj – The 24th Sankirtan Pilgrimage commenced on February 14, 2026, marking the auspicious birth anniversary of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the Gaura Purnima festival. Organized by the devotees of Sri Sri Shachimata Smriti Tirtha Dham, the sacred journey will continue across the division’s key pilgrimage sites until February 25.

Starting from Sri Shachimata Smriti Tirtha Dham, the pilgrimage passes through Bahubal, Sreemangal, Moulvibazar, Rajnagar, Fenchuganj, Mughalbazar, Purnakhola, Golapganj, Bianibazar, Sylhet, Sunamganj, and Taherpur, concluding at the holy Panatirtha Dham. Along the route, devotees engage in devotional chanting, kirtans, religious discourses, and distribution of prasadam.

Participants also visit sacred sites including Dhaka South Mahaprabhu’s residence, Shribas Thakur’s house, Advaita Prabhu’s birthplace, Madhavendra Prabhu’s birthplace, Sreemangal’s Jagannathdeb Akhra, and Moulvibazar’s Nitai-Gaur Temple. Organizers emphasize that following the footsteps of Sri Krishna, Balaram, Nityananda Prabhu, and Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu continues a timeless tradition of pilgrimage and spiritual upliftment.

“The pilgrimage is more than a journey; it purifies the heart, awakens devotion, and spreads peace and harmony in society,” said Shripad Sarveshwar Govinda Das Brahmachari, Principle of Sri Sri Shachimata Smriti Thirtho Anand Dham. International Society for Krishna Consciousness founder A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada also highlighted in his writings that holy site visits and harinam kirtans strengthen devotion and purify the mind.

Currently, devotees have passed through Bianibazar and Golapganj, visiting various leela sites, creating an atmosphere of devotion through collective chanting. The pilgrimage will conclude tomorrow at Bahubal’s Bongaon, Sylhet, with blessings from Mahaprabhu, under full cooperation from local administration ensuring a safe and disciplined journey.
