British Council hosts certificate-giving ceremony for TEP participants

The British Council organised a certificate-giving ceremony on 06 March to acknowledge the participants who successfully completed the Teaching Excellence Programme (TEP).

The TEP's face-to-face workshop commenced on 03 March, following three months of intensive online modules designed to empower educators with enhanced knowledge, capability, and confidence. The four-day workshop saw active participation from Directors representing various private and public universities' Institutional Quality Assurance Cells (IQAC).

Under the Operational Alliance Agreement inked between the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and the British Council on 31 October 2023, the TEP offers academicians a significant opportunity to refine their teaching methodologies, apply evidence-informed strategies, and expand their pedagogical content knowledge while fostering networks with fellow educators.

David Knox, Director Programmes Bangladesh, remarked, ‘The dedication and passion exhibited by the Teaching Excellence Programme participants are truly inspiring. Through the Going Global Partnership, the British Council seeks to enhance the quality of teaching, learning and research across universities in Bangladesh through training programmes like TEP and Researchers Connect, creating opportunities to internationalise higher education and bringing an international dimension.’

Kathy Wright, SFHEA, Global Associate, AdvanceHE, conducted sessions during the workshop alongside facilitators from Bangladesh, including Professor Md. Mashihur Rahman from Rajshahi University, Dr Md Golzar Hossain from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Prof Dr Mohammed Ziaul Haider from Khulna University, Prof Dr Chowdhury Meshkat Ahmed from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Prof Dr Nazmun Nahar from North South University, and Prof Dr Farheen from the American International University of Bangladesh.

Expressing her impressions, Kathy Wright from AdvanceHE stated, 'I have been impressed by the commitment of all the participants who have been ably supported by a small team of dedicated facilitators from last year's course. What is particularly pleasing is that participants have already started taking their learning into their own universities for the benefit of their staff and ultimately the students.'

Certificates were presented during the ceremony by Professor Dr Biswajit Chanda, a Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, who remarked, "Through the collaborative efforts of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and the British Council, we have reaffirmed our commitment to elevating teaching and learning standards across our nation's higher education institutions. The TEP workshop is a testament to this fruitful partnership, equipping our educators with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in their profession. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all participants whose dedication and hard work are important in shaping the future of education in Bangladesh."
